FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 23rd, 2017

WARRENTON, VA – Today, Senator Jill Vogel, Republican candidate for lieutenant governor, announced the support of 27 Commonwealth’s Attorneys across Virginia.

Vogel spoke to the importance of this announcement:

"I am honored to earn the support of such extraordinary people who do the most challenging work to protect the Commonwealth and our citizens," said Senator Jill Vogel. "They are dedicated public servants and I am proud of the relationships that I have built with Virginia’s Commonwealth’s Attorneys over the years. As lieutenant governor, I will continue working with VACA and its members to ensure our Commonwealth’s Attorneys have the resources necessary to uphold justice while seeking innovative, reform-oriented solutions designed to reduce recidivism."

With this announcement, Vogel has solidified her standing as the leading advocate for public safety and smart approaches to criminal justice issues in Virginia’s race for lieutenant governor. This strong showing of support builds upon Vogel’s field-leading total of 32 endorsements from Sheriffs across the Commonwealth who also recognized her strong record of legislative accomplishments and steadfast commitment to public safety.

As a result of her work in the Senate, Vogel has previously been named as the “Champion of Justice” by the Virginia Association of Commonwealth’s Attorneys as well as the “Legislator of the Year” by the Virginia State Police.

“Jill Vogel is a passionate advocate for issues important to Virginia's Commonwealth's Attorneys and she has a proven record of leadership on our behalf, said Chesterfield County Commonwealth’s Attorney William “Billy” Davenport. “Jill has spent years working with law enforcement on a variety of criminal justice issues. In that time, she has truly distinguished herself as a committed, accessible, and solutions-oriented legislator focused on fixing problems and getting things done. I am proud to strongly endorse her campaign for lieutenant governor.”
