Originally built in 1697, this church survived the Revolutionary War, the Yorktown fire of 1814, the Civil War, and still serves an active Episcopal Congregation over 300 years later.  The Nelson family, including Thomas Nelson, signer of the Declaration of Independence, is buried in the churchyard. 111 Church Street, Yorktown. We've stepped things up a bit, literally!  This year's concert series features three Fridays of toe tappin' jazz followed by two Fridays of knee slappin' country. Yorktown Victory Center presents a Saturday evening public lecture series beginning at 7 pm in the Richard S. Reynolds Foundation Theater. Jamestown Settlement's Godspeed will be open for public tours at the Riverwalk Landing piers on Friday, October 14 from 2 pm-6 pm. Public tours will also be offered on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 10 am - 4 pm, Sunday, Oct. 16 from 10 am - 2 pm, and Wednesday, Oct. 19 from 10 am - 5 pm. Free. (757) 253.4838

Well-known journalist, historian and author, Marc Leepson, will talk on his seventh book, a concise biography of the Marquis de Lafayette, the renowned Frenchman who commanded a division of Continental Army troops at the Battle of Yorktown. Drawing from a number of historical sources, including Lafayette's own memoirs, Leepson gives this most restless man an affectionate and engrossing portrait. Tickets are not required, however, seating is limited. Complimentary refreshments will be served immediately following the presentation.
